Workforce Solutions offers a wide variety of services to individuals seeking assistance with employment or training opportunities.   Many of the basic services offered through the workforce center system are free of charge and available to the general public.  Job seekers needing more intensive training services for employment or career growth must meet program eligibility requirements.

How do I get started?

Just visit one of the many Workforce Centers located throughout the three-county area and meet with one of our trained professionals. A Workforce Solutions professional will lead you through a process to match you to the job that is right for you.

What you can expect on your first visit to a Workforce Center:

• Registration in www.WorkInTexas.com, an on-line job matching system.
• Assessment of your vocational interests, educational levels, and prior work experience.
• An analysis of those knowledge and skill areas that employers need the most.
• Basic job matching services.

If it appears that you meet the minimum qualifications for a particular job, you may be asked to take an assessment to see how your skills measure up to what the employer needs on the job. If you meet the requirement, you will receive an employability certificate and Center staff will help you get ready for the interview. If you are selected for the job, Center staff will follow up with both you and the employer over the next 90 days to see how you are doing on the job. If you are not selected, we would encourage you to keep coming back to the Centers for more assistance.

Where are all the good jobs?

This is a question that many job seekers ask our staff. Looking for a job is hard work, and it requires a great deal of time and effort, especially if you lack the skills necessary to do a productive job search. Workforce Solutions offers free job search assistance, Career Counseling and Job Search Workshops to all customers through our Workforce Centers.
All Center customers will receive a Prove-it!® assessment that helps to identify their reading, math, spelling, ethical conduct and safety skills, skill areas that employers have told us their employees must possess. This short assessment is utilized by Center staff to provide you guidance and support for your job search and helps with the identification of possible training needs.

What if I lack the skills necessary to get that great job?

Annually, the Workforce Solutions Board of Directors reviews local Business intelligence data to ensure that the training programs that we are offer are in line with what Businesses tell us that they need and that have the most income and growth potential for you the job seeker.

Workforce Solutions provides a wide variety of classroom and computer-based training options necessary to get jobs in high-growth and high-demand areas. Whether you just need assistance with your resume, getting your GED or need specific job skills training, Workforce Solutions can assist you in meeting your training needs.

Training Options include:

• Basic Skills classes, including career prep, skills development and GED .
• Referral and funding for approved Occupational skills training that aligns to the current demand occupations list .
• Facilitated workshops in customer service skills, job readiness, Words for Work, resume preparation, interviewing skills, etc.

In addition, Workforce Solutions offers other training options for those who prefer a more hands-on approach to learning new skills. These include:

• Community Service
• On-the-Job Training and Work Experience where you earn wages while you are learning new skills
• Customized Training for those who are already employed but who need to upgrade their skills
